October 17, 2014 Housing Action Coalition
The Dogpatch neighborhood is becoming a vibrant urban community. A recent article in the San Francisco Chronicle stated, “San Francisco’s pushing ahead, and Dogpatch could lead the way.” Much of this change is led by housing development, with thousands of homes in the pipeline infusing new life into the former maritime town and bringing a unique charm to the area.
Join the SF Housing Action Coalition on a walking tour of the Dogpatch on Saturday, October 25th from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM to explore five new housing developments. The SF Housing Action Coalition will bring the developer, landscape architect or architect to show how underutilized commercial and industrial spaces will transform into new housing and retail. For those particularly interested in the changing landscape of the Dogpatch, this is your chance to ask questions directly to those shaping the area’s future.
The walk will conclude with a one hour tour of Pier 70, a massive undertaking to rehabilitate derelict industrial waterfront land into 2,000 homes (30 percent of which are below-market-rate), nine acres of waterfront parks, new office and retail space.
Come take a walk on Saturday, October 25th to see first-hand how new housing contributes to this neighborhood’s vitality.
