June 2026 Primary Preliminary Results

HAC Election Recap: June 2026 Primary

Results reported as of Friday, June 5, 2026.

Californians went to the polls on June 2, and while ballots will continue to be counted through the certification deadline of July 10, there's a lot for HAC to be encouraged about.

HAC's C4 endorsed candidates up and down the ballot this cycle, from Congress and the State Legislature to county and city races across the state. Here's where things stand.

The Clear Wins

Scott Wiener, HAC's endorsed candidate for Congress in CD-11, is advancing to the November general election — a strong result for one of the most effective pro-housing champions in the country.

Sara Hernandez is leading SD-26 with 31.8% in early returns, well ahead of a crowded field, and looks poised to advance to November in the open seat race to succeed Sen. Maria Elena Durazo.

Stephen Sherrill won his SF Board of Supervisors District 2 race outright, taking 69.6 in the ranked-choice tabulation — a result that avoids a runoff entirely.

Most of HAC's endorsed Assembly and Senate incumbents — including Buffy Wicks (AD-14), Alex Lee (AD-24), Marc Berman (AD-23), Matt Haney (AD-17), and many others — ran in districts where they are heavily favored and are expected to advance under California's top-two system.

Los Angeles Races

The LA Mayor's race is one to watch. Incumbent Karen Bass has been projected to advance to the November general election. HAC-endorsed Councilmember Nithya Raman is currently running third and trailing challenger Spencer Pratt, but the margin is expected to narrow as counting continues. We'll be watching this one closely.

John Erickson is in a tight race for SD-24, currently sitting in third place with 17.20% behind Republican G. Rick Marshall (19.62%) and Democrat Brian Goldsmith (18.75%), with Republican Kristina Irwin close behind at 15.62%. We'll continue to monitor as more ballots are processed.

Marissa Roy is leading the LA City Attorney race with 38.55% in early returns and looks poised to advance to November alongside John McKinney. Incumbent Hydee Feldstein Soto is in a distant third.

Lindsey Horvath secured reelection to the LA County Board of Supervisors outright, taking 63.56% of the vote in District 3 — a decisive result that avoids a November runoff.

Still Counting

California's mail-ballot-heavy electorate means results in many local races — Santa Clara and San Mateo County seats, and others — won't be final for days or weeks. We'll have a fuller picture once counties report final results to the Secretary of State by July 3.

The Bottom Line

This was a strong primary cycle for HAC's endorsed slate, with clear wins up and down the ballot and a few close races still being decided. Stay tuned for updates as results are certified.
