This November, voters will head to the ballot for a variety of candidates and ballot measures. The HAC does not take positions on candidates but will be taking positions on ballot measures across the region. While the HAC has always put together a pro-housing voter guide in San Francisco, we want to make sure we support pro-housing legislation wherever it’s helpful, including regional and statewide efforts, and that’s where you come in
As we prepare our voter information guides for the election, we need your help and local expertise.One of the perennial issues facing regional organizing is the size and complexity of the Bay Area; we can’t follow proposed policy changes in every single municipality in detail.
Do you know of any ballot measures in your city that BayHAC should take a position on?

If you’re not sure what to look for in a ballot measure, here are a few tips;
- Look at who’s supporting and who’s opposing. We often (but not always) align with organizations like SPUR, the Bay Area Council, SV@Home, the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County, the Oakland Builders Alliance, and YIMBY groups.
- Funding for subsidized affordable housing is generally good and we’d encourage you to vote yes.
- If it streamlines the production of housing at any income level, it’s generally good and we’d encourage you to vote yes.
