Regulatory Committee: Learning from Seattle
September 25, 2015 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am PDT
Like San Francisco, Seattleās housing market is reeling from a tsunami of booming tech sector jobs. Costs are escalating out of control as demand surges. With many neighborhoods in the throes of transformative growth, battle lines have been drawn between smart growth, housing affordability and neighborhood preservation advocates.
In 2014, Seattleās Mayor pulled key individuals from opposing corners together to create the Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda (HALA). Goals:Ā net increase of 50,000 units of housing ā 20,000 units of affordable housing and 30,000 units of market-rate over the next decade.Ā
This Regulatory meeting, join us to learn from Seattleās Dan Bertolet (urban planner, advocate andĀ www.citytank.orgĀ blogger) about the progressive ideas of the committee and the back room deals, and debate what SF can learn from their experience. Bring your thoughts on how we can shift outlooks and create winning compromises to meet our housing goals.
SFHAC business and organization members only, please.
