Project Review Committee: A San Jose Case Study
July 26, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am PDT
As SFHAC continues to take a more regional approach to its housing advocacy, it’s important our organization and members understand how other cities address the need for more homes, including from a planning and design perspective. For our next Project Review Committee meeting, we’ll switch gears and take an in-depth look at a San Jose case study. The city is starting to urbanize and significant population growth is expected, especially with the recent announcement from Google that the company will build a new tech campus adjacent to Diridon Station.
SJSC is a recently-approved residential tower (pictured above) in downtown San Jose, consisting of 630 apartments. Members of the project team will talk through how they tackled creating an active ground floor, solving open space requirements and creating a flexible space within the podium to allow office use. Their presentation will also cover the level of resident services and infrastructure being placed in the development.
