Building a Future for All: Housing Tour of the Mission

June 11, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT

The San Francisco housing affordability crisis has been the topic of discussion among residents for years and is particularly daunting in the Mission District, a historically working class neighborhood. Rising rents and displacement pressures are making it harder for existing residents to stay in their homes while accommodating a growing population. But the future may be brighter. New market-rate and affordable developments are planned for the neighborhood and a community plan is underway. Learn more about these projects, how existing housing policy incorporates below market-rate housing, and new policy solutions that are being developed for the Mission and the City as a whole. Join SFHAC and the Emerging Leaders Peer Network on a co-hosted walking tour, where we’ll explore existing affordable and market-rate housing developments, learn about the plans for several other sites and hear about Mission Action Plan (MAP) 2020. Learn how one neighborhood is working to remain affordable for all.

Speakers include representatives from BRIDGE Housing, Mission Housing Development Corporation, AGI Avant, Chinatown Community Development Center, Mission Economic Development Agency, David Baker Architects, Mithun | Solomon and the SF Planning Department. RSVP required.
