CANCELLED: Bayview Bike Ride: Exploring a New Community at Hunters View
May 7, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm PDT
Unfortunately, we’ve had to cancel the tour. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
In honor of Bike Month, SFHAC will host a ride down to Bayview to explore the new community at Hunters View. Built in 1956, the 256-unit public housing project provided workforce housing during World War II, but was never intended to be permanent. Over time, the development became virtually uninhabitable for the residents and in dire need of repair. The City of San Francisco took on a revitalization effort that began in 2005 and now this three-phase project is on its way to becoming an almost 800-unit, mixed-income neighborhood that enables on-site relocation for all existing residents. Join SFHAC for a Saturday bike ride down to this amazing development. Members of the project team from John Stewart Company, Mithun | Solomon and Paulett Taggart Achitects will share how this plan came to be. This tour is free for SFHAC members. Meeting location will be announced upon registration. RSVP below.
This will be a 2-2.5 hour tour, including 30 minutes of slow pace biking to/from Hunters View from the starting place. Your bike must be in good working condition and you should be comfortable biking on hills and urban streets.
