#AHW2019 Moving San Mateo County Forward

The entire Bay Area is in an affordable housing crisis, and the situation is exacerbated in San Mateo County. Jobs and housing are deeply mismatched, with 1 home for every 19 jobs. The result has both social equity and environmental implications. The induced traffic and sprawl contribute to 60% of the county’s greenhouse gas emissions, and low-income workers are forced to quit or lose their jobs due to long and arduous long commutes. The solution could lie within a potentially transformative State bill. The More HOMES Act would deliver more homes where people need them – near jobs and transit.
Join us for an engaging conversation between the bill’s author, Senator Scott Wiener, San Mateo County Board Supervisor David Canepa, and Housing Leadership Council Executive Director, Evelyn Stivers to discuss the opportunities and challenges in San Mateo County, and what the More HOMES Act could mean for our region.
