Join the SFHAC and SPUR in making the Affordable Housing Bonus Program (AHBP) a reality.
The AHBP creates a new tool for housing developers to build up to 30-percent on-site affordable housing for low and middle-income residents throughout San Francisco, at no cost to the public. This program applies to transit and mixed-used commercial districts (not single family residential streets). To accommodate the new affordable homes, this will allow two stories to be added to new developments. The AHBP protects rent-controlled buildings.
This program isn’t favorable among some neighbors who claim this new tool will drastically harm neighborhood character, or that we should only be incentivizing very-low and low-income housing, and not housing for our middle-income earners. The SF Housing Action Coalition and SPUR believe the AHBP is a common-sense way to build new low AND middle-income housing on our transit corridors.
Here are 3 things you can do to be sure our city’s leaders hear from folks like you who believe this program is a smart solution to San Francisco’s housing needs.
