WALKING CINEMA: MUSEUM OF THE HIDDEN CITY
August 27, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm PDT
A unique film/live performance titled WALKING CINEMA: MUSEUM OF THE HIDDEN CITY will have a free screening at Zendesk on August 27th at 6:30pm. This project dramatically uncovers the sociological and urban design challenges built into the housing lottery system. Tickets can be downloaded at: http://seehiddencity. eventbrite.com.
HIDDEN CITY is a “live documentary”, meaning it’s a mix of acted scenes and documentary film recounting the journey of Yesenia Ramirez and her family from homelessness to housing in the luxury NEMA building on Market Street. The story reveals the workings of San Francisco’s inclusionary housing program, focusing on the housing lottery. This is the fastest growing means of creating affordable housing in San Francisco, often in luxury highrises like NEMA. HIDDEN CITY reveals the sometimes bizarre ways inclusionary housing is shaping our public and private spaces, ballot issues, and society overall. The project was produced by the interactive studio Walking Cinema, and funded by grants from the Rainin Foundation.
