As quickly as new residential developments are sprouting up around the City, so are the public art projects. Did you know that new housing in San Francisco’s downtown is required to donate 1% of its construction costs to public art for all of us to enjoy?
Join the SF Housing Action Coalition, SF Bicycle Coalition and AIA San Francisco on a bike tour to pedal around SOMA to view four housing developments and their artwork. On the tour, you will meet the developer, star architect or world-famous artist for each site and hear about the ins-and-outs of each project, how it got started and see the results from this public benefit.
Speakers include Artists Brian Goggin and Brian Barneclo, Architects Kevin Wilcock from David Baker Architects and Richard Stacy of Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects and Affordable Housing Developer Smitha Seshadri from BRIDGE Housing.
Tour sponsored by the SF Housing Action Coalition, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and AIA San Francisco
This will be a 3-hour urban bike tour at a casual pace for an estimated 3-mile flat bike ride. Your bike must be in good working condition and you should be comfortable biking on urban streets.
$10 donation. Limited space available. Details will be sent out after ticket purchase. This tour will sell out so reserve your spot today!
