Regulatory Committee: Removing Freeways to Make Way for Housing
April 8, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am PDT
We’re in for an insightful discussion with Gillian Gillette from the Mayors Office who’s leading the Railyard Alternatives and I-280 Boulevard Feasibility Study (RAB), a multi-agency program studying transportation and land use alternatives in the most rapidly growing areas of the City. San Francisco has committed to significant transit and infrastructure investments in the South of Market, Mission Bay, and Showplace Square/Lower Potrero Hill neighborhoods around existing infrastructure that includes an elevated freeway, a half-mile long railyard, and street-level commuter rail tracks. The RAB will evaluate whether these challenges can be addressed through a comprehensive, regional approach to building a future that integrates land use with local and regional transportation and builds a high-quality urban environment. Following, Chris Senseig from Van Meter William Pollack will present on what Oakland could look like if the I-980 were tore down.
All SFHAC business and organization members are welcome to join. If you are not a member but would like to attend, email Jodie Medeiros at jodie@sfhac.org first.
