State Senate Debate: Jane Kim and Scott Wiener

April 25, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm PDT

Jane Kim and Scott Wiener

Jane Kim and Scott Wiener are opposing each other in a competitive race to represent the 11th State Senate district, which covers San Francisco. (Mark Leno, the current State Senator, is term-limited out.) The new State Senator will be San Francisco’s only State Senator, will be eligible to serve a total of 12 years, and will be well positioned to run for Congress when 76-year-old Nancy Pelosi retires.
This meeting will take place at the County Fair Building near Lincoln and Ninth in Golden Gate Park. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
Kim, Wiener, and a third candidate, Republican Kenneth Loo, will compete against each other in the June 7 primary. The top two finishers (almost certainly Kim and Wiener, since Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than 7 to 1 in San Francisco) will run off against each other in the November 8 general election.
Politicians listen better to neighborhoods that vote, and politicians listen better still when they know the neighborhood is paying attention. Bring your polite, thoughtful, probing questions. The debate will last ninety minutes.
This Hoodline article reports on the first Kim-Wiener debate.
